Dave Mustaine leaves 'Panic' in 1982 and joins 'Metallica' as the
lead guitarist. He wrote a few songs but was kicked out in 1983 partially because of his
drug habits. Tried to form a band called 'Fallen Angels' but didn't succeed. Dave then got together with David Ellefson, Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson to form the band known as 'MEGADETH'. |
| Megadeth is with Combat Records and records "Killng is my
Business..... and Business is Good" Their second album, "Peace sells......." was a major hit. Megadeth had arrived ! However, after the following tour, Poland (and later even Samuelson ) were fired. Jeff Young and Chuck Behler join as guitarist and drummer. |

" So Far So Good" is released in 1988. After the corresponding tour, Behler and Young were also removed from the scene - Dave was also arrested for drugs. Dave manages to kick the drug habit after a rehabilation programme. In the meantime, 'Cacophony' breaks up and Marty Friedman joins Megadeth. |
| "Rust in Peace " is released in 1990. 1992. "Countdown to Extinction" released. Their highest selling album ever. Megadeth at the height of their popularity. "Youthanasia" is recorded in an Arizona studio - had a different kind of sound. Some liked it, some did not. Cryptic Writings released in 1997. |
